How do our team of certified appraisers value your items?

Deluxe Watches

When assessing your watches, our team of certified appraisers value high-end watches depending on the Brand, Model, Age, Condition, and Packaging. Certain Brands and models would be valued more than others. Generally, the newer the watch is, it is valued more. The condition of the watch itself should avoid having any scratches on the surface, dents or restorations – these will decrease the value of your item. If it comes in with its original packaging, this increases the overall value.

We tend to lend up to 70% of the resale value price for high-end watches.

Jewelry, Diamonds and Precious Metals

When it comes to Jewelry, Precious Metals and Diamonds, every detail is taken into account. The metal is valued depending whether it is platinum or white, yellow or rose gold, containing 8, 9, 10, 14, 18, 22 or 24 carats. Gemstones are valued on its clarity, cut, color and carat. Diamonds are graded according to GIA scale.

Gold

At PawnQ, we use a combination of the latest technology together with hands-on testing processes, that way we can accurately test your gold to make sure you get the best, fair value for your gold.

Our gold testing methods involve:

Electronic Testing

Once our certified appraisers at PawnQ receive your gold, they first run it through an electronic test in order to measure the level of karat it contains. This involves an alligator clip attaching the metal to the small device. A few drops of test solution are then placed on the test area. From this, the digital display screen on the machine will rapidly and accurately provide the amount of karats the gold contains.

Scratch Testing

A scratch test is done as a second test in order to confirm the electronic test's results. The scratch test, which is the oldest technique used in the jewelry industry, can confirm what kind of gold is contained in the piece itself. This is done by using gold testing needles that contain low-grade acid solutions, which corresponds to each level of karat. When a scratch line with a gold test needle is compared to the scratch line of the piece that is being tested, the speed of the scratches dissolving can determine whether the piece contains a lower or higher karat than the needle used.

X-Ray Fluorescence Scanning

A third test is then applied, especially if the electronic test and scratch test do not show a clear result. The third test involves an x-ray fluorescence scan. The machine used is an incredibly and extremely powerful device that can provide very detailed analysis and accurate results. By wavelength dispersion analysis, it measures the intensity of generated gold x-rays. At the end of the test, a full report indicates the gold content's percentage together with other alloying metals such as silver, zinc, titanium and copper to name a few.

Cameras

When assessing cameras, our team of certified appraisers value them depending on the Brand, Model, Age, Condition, and its Packaging. Certain Brands and models would be valued more than others. Digital SLR cameras would be most valued. Generally, the newer the camera is, it is valued more. The condition of the camera itself should avoid having any scratches on the surface, or dents – these will decrease the value of your item. The camera also has to be in working order and come with its accessories. If it comes in with its original packaging, this increases the overall value.

Apple Products

As part of our valuation process, a certified appraiser assesses Apple Products depending on the Product, Model, Age, Condition, and Packaging. Certain product and models would be valued more than others, such as Apple Computers. Generally, the newer the item is, it is valued more. The condition of the item itself should avoid having any scratches on the surface, or dents – these will decrease the value of your item. The item also has to be in working order and comes with its original Apple accessories. If it comes in with its original packaging, this increases the overall value.

Fine Art and Antiques:

Our team of certified appraisers value Fine Art and Antiques depending on the current market trends together with popularity, artist, year, medium, size, condition and rarity.

We confirm our value prices with auction house records for authentication as well as gallery provenance. Antiques are thoroughly checked by dealers with specific knowledge on the type of antique in order to gain an accurate and fair value. All pieces are also checked against the Police's lost and stolen database and Art Loss Registers.

We tend to lend up to 60% of the resale value price for fine art and antiques.

Classic & Prestige Cars

Classic & Prestige Cars are valued by our team of certified appraisers. They take into account the model, make, year and condition.The condition of the car should avoid having any scratches on the surface, or dents – these will decrease the value of your car. It also needs to be in working order. For Classic cars, we refer to the auction history records from specialist car auctions.

We tend to lend up to 50% of the trade value price for classic and prestige cars.

Boats & Yachts

For Boats and Yachts, we send members from our team of certified appraisers to assess yachts and boats at its docking site.

We use the Marine Register to ensure ownership and check certification. Generally, the newer the boat or yacht is, it is valued more. The condition itself should avoid having the least amount of scratches on the surface, or dents – these will decrease the value. The yacht or boat also has to be in working order, this will be tested by our certified appraisers who specialize in yachts and boats.

We tend to lend up to 50% of the resale value price of the boat or yacht.
